Discover the ancient and beautiful art of bonsai in this hands-on workshop led by Brian Tuel, a member of the Pennsylvania Bonsai Association who brings over 20 years of bonsai experience and has exhibited at the Philadelphia Flower Show.
Rooted in centuries of tradition from Japan and East Asia, bonsai is a practice that combines horticulture and artistic expression. In this session, you’ll explore the history, aesthetics, and fundamental techniques of bonsai—adapted for our region.
Participants will learn how to choose, shape, and care for their own bonsai tree. You’ll receive a young specimen to work with, guidance on pruning and training, and tips for long-term maintenance. Everyone will go home with their own bonsai tree!
🧤 Please bring gardening gloves and a shallow box or tray to transport your tree safely.
